Magical Tattoos

I’ve been talking about dreams in my yoga classes the past few weeks.

Our dreams

you know

those desires that we often have stored deeply in our mind.

I’ve been looking at what dreams I have that I have not pursued and why. Were they too hard? Maybe I don’t have enough time? Some of my dreams I’m not passionate enough about. I know I have some dreams that I fear working on and pursuing. Fear. What if I fail? What if I’m not good enough. What if I can’t do it? Fear.

The dreams that I have that keep popping into my mind – those are the ones I’m working on now.

The dreams I am focusing on now center around my writing:

Submitting some individual pieces of writing.

Self-publishing some small works

Getting some larger works traditionally published.

I love knowing that I have the power to decide what I want to do and when.

I believe in magic.

I believe in the magic that I can create with positive thinking.

I believe when I positively commit to a dream, magic may happen, or at least has a higher chance that if I’m waiting for that perfect moment. I have spent years preparing. I am ready to stop prepping and ready to do, to go, to commit, to pursue, to dream.

Before I start working on projects, I often meditate.

This works like a magic eraser for my mind.

It clears the canvas and allows more space for my creativity/work to take place.

Meditation is not hard. You can’t do it wrong. You just need to try. I recommend that you meditate for about 10-20 minutes. I never fully focus before 10 minutes. It always takes me a few minutes to settle and let that “monkey chatter” in my mind cease.

Let’s get started.

Find a comfortable seated position.

Turn your phone on airplane mode.

If you are a time watcher or a fidgeter, you may want to set a timer on your phone so you will not be tempted to peek.

Focus on your breath.

How it feels.

How it sounds coming in and out of your body.

Fully breathe, allow your lungs to work the way they are meant to work.

Relax your jaw

your neck

your shoulders

Breathe in and release your

Let your legs release all the way to your toes.

Scan your body. Relaxing any areas of tightness.

Turn your focus back to your breath.

How do you feel?

What do you notice?

Release. Release any tightness that remains. Release your doubts and worries…for now.

Sit quietly with your breath and your thoughts.

Repeat to yourself

I am present

I am open

I am aware

I accept

I am safe

I am free

Big breath in…

I am calm.

As you sit here, start thinking about

your dreams

your projects

your desires

your needs.

They don’t have to change the world. They just need to help you feel like you are moving forward. Pick one.

Once you have decided on one dream for this meditation, I want you to pretend your eyes are open. You are looking at the world around you when this dream is fulfilled. Take your time.

What do you see?

How do you feel?

How are you different?

Open your eyes.

Breathe in through your nose. Exhale through your mouth and say Ahhhhhh.

Breathe in through your nose. Exhale through your mouth and say Ahhhhhh.

Breathe in through your nose. Exhale through your mouth and say Ahhhhhh.

How do you feel? You may want to stop and journal about these feelings. I feel more confident, able and successful when I commit to a project and follow through. When I meditate it helps me move forward.

I would like to share with you a poem I love.

The Dream of all my Dreams

One day I will be an old woman with long silver hair,

Magical tattoos,

Eyes for of light and life

And lots of laugh wrinkles.

My children’s children

Will lay out with me

Under the stars by a campfire

On a seashore.

We will listen to

The waves make music

As I tell them stories

Of wild adventures,

Of lived dreams,

Conquered fears

And a full life lived.

And I will inspire journeys of their own.

This is the dream of all my dreams.

I love this poem, it reminds me to live my dreams.

To see that my adventures and dreams are stronger than my fears of them.

We have one life to live and one chance to dream.

I don’t want to look back at my life and wonder, what if.

I am not sure about the magical tattoos, but I will have lots of laugh wrinkles and lived dreams.
